With the contactless dosing system from perfecdos, natural rubber (NR) can be used even when only the smallest volumes need to be dosed with process reliability. This option invites us to rethink and utilize natural rubber in new ways.
Extracted from the latex of the rubber tree, natural rubber is known for its unique combination of elasticity, flexibility, and durability. It has excellent mechanical and dynamic properties, such as high tear resistance, very high tensile strength, and high elongation (up to 800%). Whether in the automotive industry for tire production, in the medical sector for the manufacturing of latex gloves, or in the textile industry for elastic fibers – this raw material is omnipresent as long as it is processed in larger volumes. When smaller volumes need to be dosed, process reliability quickly reaches its limits. A key criterion in the processing of natural rubber is the material's rapid reaction time, which in turn defines the manufacturing process. It is no coincidence that gloves or condoms are typically produced using dipping processes. When dosing NR, these short reaction times lead to problems. This begins with the transport to the dosing unit and becomes particularly critical during short downtimes of the system. Natural rubber cures, meaning it changes its viscosity and makes precise dosing impossible.
For this reason, natural rubber was not an option for many products, even though its material properties would have been ideal. "It's different with our contactless dosing system," says Julian Greiner, Marketing & Sales at perfecdos GmbH. "Even after a 14-day production interruption, production can resume immediately after 100 empty shots. With the appropriate design of the media supply, no system cleaning is required."
